The Test Of Time


In life the truest test is that of time.

Time being those moments that elapse 
measured by segments of 
years
months
days
hours
minutes &
seconds.

And though in essence
the purest of existence
is that which is eternal, 
there is a witness
who is able to testify of times
withstood within 
the darkest of days;

It is there that the heartless rage
to tear a page from the Book of Life
where the Light looks to save
the seeds of tomorrow;

The stolen seeds who were
borrowed without permission
then forced into perdition 
to grow the bitter roots of 
enslavement's harvest.

Yet there is a darkness
that does blaze brighter
than any sun in creation

A darkness that has eclipsed
attempts to remove its presence
from the archives of formation;

A darkness established upon
the foundations of time
whose contributions to civilization
have enlightened every human's mind; 

A darkness that has withstood the test of time;

A darkness captured in the skin of men
who have found ways to transcend space &
enter the sublime then soar as if with wings 
on wind beyond the hateful grin of the demons
who envied their melanin;

A darkness whose elements are enshrined
in the memories of our ancestors
whose tales are the shelter of our legacy;

A darkness that time has tested
in the furnace of affliction 
to refine our purpose 
so that we will inevitably 
fulfill our great destiny.

And it is our elders who are the witness
to the times that have tested our people &
for that they are to be especially honored
for withstanding the test of time.

Between Emancipation and Liberation:


What Lincoln Understood About Legal Terms that Most African-Americans Don't

When Abraham Lincoln, a well educated and trained lawyer, signed the Emancipation Proclamation, he was well aware of the Roman/Latin root of the word emancipation (mancipium) and intimately understood the political nature of the document, as he once plainly stated during a debate in Charleston, Illinois before a crowd of 15,000 that
"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races; I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people[1]."
What Lincoln knew and understood about "emancipation" was that the Roman legal context of the matter was not equivalent to the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness to which Anglo-Saxons and other individuals of European descent, who at the time were considered Citizens of America, were privy. As the Roman law would have it, which serve as the foundation of the United States system of civil laws establishment, there is a qualitative difference in the political and social status of an individual or group of individuals who have been emancipated as compared to those who have acquired liberty. This reality is best described on a website from the University of Chicago, which states:
"In ancient Roman law, physical property became classified into two categories: "Res Mancipi" - things that required a mancipation; and "Res Nec Mancipi" - things that did not require a mancipation.
'Mancipium' or mancipation was a formal public ceremony required for recognition of conveyance in 'title' of legal ownership to a thing (mancipatio - taking in hand). The ceremony included striking a scale with a copper ingot as a token of sale. Without this ancient ritual, no exchange had the sanction or protection of the law.
Another manner of acquiring legal title was cessio in iure (cession in court), by vindicatio. An individual claiming title against a possessor would physically claim the thing (or a part of it produced in court). If the possessor failed also to claim the thing by exceptio, the praetor would restore it to the individual claiming title.
This distinction between categories of things ceased in the Roman Law at the time of Justinian, but was carried forward in the development of English law.
Res Mancipi generally encompassed those properties most valuable to agriculture - land, houses, slaves and four-footed beasts of burden. Under Roman law, the list of Res Mancipi was irrevocably closed. In English law, the distinction was carried forward with the identity of Res Mancipi as 'immovables' governed by the laws of 'realty' and Res Nec Mancipi as 'movables,' chattel or goods, governed by the laws of 'personalty.'
Res Nec Mancipi did not require the ceremony of mancipium for conveyance, only simple delivery or traditio. Res Nec Mancipi were considered on a 'lower footing of dignity' allowing for freer circulation of common objects of use and enjoyment. The list of Res Nec Mancipi could be expanded to accommodate new valued items. Transfer of ownership of Res Nec Mancipi was evidenced by physical 'delivery.'
Roman law also formally recognized the distinction between the incorporeal web of social relationships inherent in the concept of ownership, as well as the thing or object being 'owned.' 'Tradition' applicable to Res Mancipi recognized two elements in conveyance of ownership: (1) the consent or intent to transfer ownership title to the thing; and (2) the physical delivery of the thing into the new owner's possession. Mancipation was the ceremony by which the incorporeal legal title was symbolically passed. Title to things not requiring mancipation was presumed to have passed with corporeal delivery[2]."
So when considering whether or not you have your freedom as a so-called African-American, in context to Lincoln's personal view of Blacks, you have to also take into account the nature of the reality of the meaning of the fourteenth amendment which states,
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws[3]."
The key to understand this newly created class of citizens, to which the Declaration of Independence nor the Bill of Rights applies, is that as naturalized citizens granted emancipation, the Negro was still SUBJECT TO THE JURISDICTION OF THE UNITED STATES, though no longer subject the respective state laws nor plantation owners that once held them as their property. It can be said that African-Americans, as well as all citizens of the United States, are both subjects to the jurisdiction of the United States and property of the banks who are the possessors of the warehouse receipts of the citizens in the form of their birth certificate[4].

This reality accounts for the vestiges of slavery that continued to exist with the advent of the Black Codes and Jim Crow laws that swept the nation shortly after the era of Reconstruction. It was then that African-Americans were incarcerated and sent to prison, where the thirteenth amendment of the constitution states,
"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction[5]."
And today, with the mass incarceration rates of African-Americans, who disproportionately make up the Prison Industrial Complex and recent reports state that in their lifetime, 1 out of 3 Blacks males will go to prison[6], it isn't hard to see that there is still a peculiar institution intent on capitalizing on the enslavement and exploitation of the so-called African-American.
And recently, as I watched a pre-release special screening of Steve McQueen's film 12 Years A Slave, I couldn't help but notice the precarious state and semblance of freedom that Solomon Northup so preciously held on to and desired throughout the opus, as today in America, Blacks find themselves owning less property than when they did upon being initially emancipated. It is also a bitter reality to notice the wealth gap between Black and White households, which is increasing at a substantial rate. However, with the purchasing power of Blacks in America at an exorbitant $1.1 trillion dollar level, it is surprising that Blacks haven't invested in the securing of their future with educational institutions as well as possibly considering correctional services which would behoove our community to contribute to the rehabilitation of 'Miseduated Negroes.'
Yet in the final analysis of this most subtle reality that lies at the very cusp of consciousness amongst intellectual circles in the Black community, I wonder why there are so few voices who are speaking and making our people aware of this matter. Herein lies the key to our ultimate hopes of being self-determinant and acquiring the precious state of liberty that is our human right. This focus and aim is what El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, better known as Malcolm X, was striving to get Blacks to understand throughout his post Mecca years as he so eloquently stated in his seminal speech The Ballot or the Bullet:
"We need to expand the civil-rights struggle to a higher level-to the level of human rights. Whenever you are in a civil-rights struggle, whether you know it or not, you are confining yourself to the jurisdiction of Uncle Sam. No one from the outside world can speak out in your behalf as long as your struggle is a civil-rights struggle. Civil rights comes within the domestic affairs of this country. All of our African brothers and our Asian brothers and our Latin-American brothers cannot open their mouths and interfere in the domestic affairs of the United States. And as long as it's civil rights, this comes under the jurisdiction of Uncle Sam. But the United Nations has what's known as the charter of human rights; it has a committee that deals in human rights. You may wonder why all of the atrocities that have been committed in Africa and in Hungary and in Asia, and in Latin America are brought before the UN, and the Negro problem is never brought before the UN. This is part of the conspiracy. This old, tricky blue eyed liberal who is supposed to be your and my friend, supposed to be in our corner, supposed to be subsidizing our struggle, and supposed to be acting in the capacity of an adviser, never tells you anything about human rights. They keep you wrapped up in civil rights. And you spend so much time barking up the civil-rights tree, you don't even know there's a human-rights tree on the same floor."
The time has come for us, as so called African-Americans, to find the tree of life where our human rights are secure in our being and we no longer find ourselves subject to the rulership of man, but the rulership of our heavenly King and Father. Then, and only then, will we find our true place in both history and our destiny, and the world will also know and experience the order of creation that was intended to be from the beginning.

has spread chronic
on city corners
plagued with
bubonic oppression &
hegemonic historical
consciousness
which has created
urban jungles
of Dr. Moreau 

a white flight
in fear of
miscegenation
has stimulated
the social inflation
of hate with
reverberations
creating retaliations
of murder and rape
until conflagrations
ingnite over race
and everything civil
gets thrown
head first
out the window

a young woman
lying in her own life
looses her head
because a man
sprayed hot lead
in the back
of her skull
just because her skin
was the wrong color.

a father
desperate for liquor
slipped his daughter
a roofie and proceeded
to sell her innocence
to a 12 year old classmate
who passed his first
anatomy exam
filling her
with his genes
on the inside
of her newly torn
virginal linings

a young mother
in love with darkness
abandons her toddlers
on a hot summer night
in a car where she has
likely swallowed their
unborn siblings
to attend a concert
where Weezy
has moved on up
to capture the hearts
of the irresponsible
and she eventually
lost her children
to the same system
that also took
her freedom

a boy
tired of running
from real
monsters
at school
mysteriously
found himself
forever asleep
wrapped up
in a mat
and then
emptied
of all his
organs
only to be
stuffed
with news papers
that reported him
a victim
of homicide.

a mother
under
protective
services
because
she witnessed
a murder
was found
by wolves
who devoured
her flesh
so that her
voice would
never be heard
what's even
more absurd
is that the same
blood thirsty
wolves
cut short her
3 year old
daughter's time
but left her
1 year old son
some kind of
traumatized
to wander
amongst
the carnage
until the authorities
who were
supposed to have
her in hiding
arrived at the scene
to find her
and her daughter
silent and her son
screaming

A miscarriage of justice
in the case of
a non conviction
for a cold
blooded murderer
in a state
which has historically
stood its ground
in regards to
hot race relations
served to remind
a group of
dark people
that the life
of animals
has more
sanctity
than former
pieces of
chattel property.

a man
whose conscience
was abducted
was charged
with harboring
three distressed
damsels for
a decade
was sentenced to
a millennium
imprisonment
to rot in
his lust
like the demons
whose semen
he spewed
into the wombs
that he repeatedly
entered

countless priests
preying on children
and confessing their
perversions
to them in secret
have been granted
remission
of their sins
by their
unholy father
and given
keys to
the kingdom of
pedophilia
where they
continue
to inseminate
spiritually torn
souls with the
Legion of Christ

a spree of mass shootings
which has cast
blame on fire arms
has all but overlooked
the drug sorcery
at work
altering minds and
manipulating
deeds to bring
about the complete
disarmament of
the Citizens whose
rights are being
stripped one
amendment
at a time

a nation of people

distracted by circuses
are too blind
to see
society

enslavement

crashes
that burn

Nazi fascism
from Weimar
Republic
ashes.

Into The Sublime


from the beginning of time
every generation has produced a poet 
whose words give birth to change.
for there are chapters of life 
whose verses are in need of rediscovery 
like archaeological artifacts buried deep 
beneath the catacombs of libraries
where treasure maps that lead to awakening are unearthed &
then placed on display 
in order to gain a glimpse 
of the ways that past civilizations
culturally contributed
to the catalyzation of consciousness.
granted some societies from the continents
were subject to greater spiritual sapience
it is the human story
that should serve as the source of inspiration
for each and every souls attempt
to ascend into the sublime.
and it is poetry 
that has lent prose and rhyme
to form the ladder for us to climb
into the upper heights
as there were once ancient prophets
who would enter a particular temple
to speak what was right
where open mics were often unwelcomed
like the truth is today 
in our age on stages
yet it is the purpose of the poet
who must nevertheless find their voice &
with courage address all social ills
as well as as the hopes of these present days
offering words that both cut and heal
while praying that their seeds 
fall on fertile soil so that the field
may yield fruit upwards to 100 fold.
a tale is told of a master Poet
who prophetically spoke in parables &
it is said of Him that his riddles were so simple
that often they were misunderstood
on account of his profound ability
to bring heaven's mysteries down to earth
in such a way that even a child 
was able to perceive the essence
of the reality which he described.
yet it is a pity that for His words
He was crucified by those whose tongues
were covered in lies
as they despised the very light
which gave them life.
and even now the righteous continue to fight
with these same serpent offspring of the night
who have taken every step to eclipse the Son &
prevent eyes from beholding creation with pure insight.
this is why poetry must be the tool 
that the poet must use to enlight
this world of shadows
wielding pens when in battle
piercing minds with the sharpest of thoughts
smiting ignorance and deception
with each strategic stroke of the wrist &
movement of the lips
until all that causes discord meets death
so that 
at last
the only reality that victoriously exists
results from the word made flesh &
the spirit of righteousness
that rises from the abyss;
this dear readers
is no myth
but a secret kept from eyes
for millennia in the vaulted archives
of those who have held power &
religiously control populations 
in an effort to resurrect Babel's tower
where tongues were confused &
peoples were scattered
for their rebellious plots 
against the Kingdom of the Word
whose eternal nature is the nucleus 
of all matter and things ordinary and divine
so that what becomes of creation
will be the intended universal order of the Creator
when humankind finally steps
into the sublime.

Prized Livestock


Only an unnatural
 cold thirst is quenched
with a calloused
conceit of power &
then corrupted into
a cruel control
that has caste
the children of the sun
into confederate chains
of chattel captivity.

Only an inhumane
institution could
legalize exploitation &
dehumanize the image
of the Creator
into that 
of a insane beast of burden
manufactured to build
fortunes for brutish
but civilized barbarians.

Only a cold-blooded
savage animal
could so easily
spill life from flesh &
beat trees into
the backs of souls
with whips that cracked
countless wills
into fragments &
involuntary submission.

Only a devil in disguise
would dare to drown
heaven's denizens with
disdain and degrade
them into a downtrodden
object condition defined
by destitution diabolically
delivered by demons of despotic
desire who demanded
so much for oh so little.

The Negro is America's most prized livestock,
the very commodity that created Wall Street's
first bull market which caused the United States
to arrive at its present super sized spot. And
though most American's today despise this thought,
no one can deny the profits amassed from all the
souls sold and the lives bought to exchange manual
labor for inhumanity. The justification? The Vatican's
sanction of enslavement under Pope Nicholas V's
authorization of Dum Diversas. There are some
rivers crossed that have my ancestors footprints
embedded in their floors seeking to return to their
culture which was shredded as Moors by whores
for material wealth and temporal power. And now
the children of the Antebellum South are building on the remains
of their forefathers aims at this very hour, as the only matter
that has changed is the transferal of property ownership
because now the banks have the reigns that plantation
masters once held along with the private prisons whose
board of trustees profit from every Black body
that is housed in one of their cells. The text books
failed to inform you of this most innocuous fact,
that the 13th and 14th amendments merely gave
second class citizenship and privileges to Blacks,
and not the sovereign status of the Constitution's
framers or the land owners whose jurisdiction
was supreme to the system that was known to hang us
from trees like strange fruit. But today we're drafted from auction
blocks to change routes when audibles are called
or bang hoops for a trey or deuce with a round ball
not to mention the words sang by groups or solo performers
for company's who sell soul to the masses from the lives they've signed
it's all modern day enslavement but to the adapted designs
of the system, unfortunately, many of the enslaved descendants
are deaf, dumb and blind. Never mind the millions that
these new superstars have amassed, the dependency
to the system and complexion of their skin still
keeps them socially in the untouchable caste. Disconnected
to the mission and out of touch with the past, allowed to
slip through the cracks to experience a taste of American pizazz,
lost living the dream with inflated egos from starring in events
that cause people to scream in support of their physical prowess,
without focus since the martyrdom of King and X it seems like
it's been all struggle and no progress, still subjects to the laws
of Congress who oppress the citizens of the United States
with fictitious Amendments and silent Black Codes
that straps holds on the Negro, so that in America
no matter how far he may go his emancipation
will always be quiritarian & never bonitary.
