Take Points

* inspired by Trayvon Martin and other fallen innocents

Riding for justice
is not for suckas
or those prone
to jump on
bandwagons
nor is it a
fashion statement
or fad to be picked up
by those who
quite apparently
stand for nothing
in addition
riding for justice
is not for opportunists
who find an opportunity
to speak an opportune
word for their sake
when all that they
oppose is anything
that outshines self
bcuz riding for justice
is a lifestyle
a committment
a sacrifice of life
limb and family
for the sake of
the greater good
riding for justice
is not just wearing
a hood for Trayvon
it goes beyond
appearance and
form bcuz it is substance
it's doing what
doesn't require recognition
it's organizing to address
a condition that won't
change by itself
it's more than reading
books from off a shelf &
quoting lines at open mics
it's the fight for life &
all that is right in light
of brotha Malcolm &
Sista Betty
John Brown
Martin Luther K ing
Joan of Arc
Huey P
Geronimo
Leonard Peltier
Nat Turner
Gandhi
Kwame Nkrumah
Patrice Lumumba
Ida B Wells
Harriet and Sojourner
Frederick Douglass
John F Kennedy
Robert Kennedy
William Cooper
Alberto Rivera
and the many others
who were willing
to ride and die
for justice
bcuz they understood
that when it comes to
changing the world
all that we really have
is just us...
